Great Reviews: Excellent recommendation from Andy- the rooms are comfortable, quiet and the pool is well worth the extra few dollars. Marshall who managed the guest house is a fantastic host, make sure you go for vegetarian dinner options and I would strongly recommend using the Sunrise transport to and from the various sights. Excellent stay and strongly Recomended.

I was looked after by Marshall the property manager during my stay and he couldn’t have been more helpful. I was lucky and had the place to myself an oasis of calm. Was great to have the pool to dip into.

Andy was very responsive, making sure that all was well. The pool is good for a refreshing dip when the weather gets hot. In terms of hospitality, it was very warm and I had very good breakfast tea.

Dudley Guest & Restaurant of  Habarana has a number of bedrooms for rent. It is in the area of Kashyapagama which is on the back roads of Habarana in the direction of Sigiriya, It is less than 1 km from Habarana Junction.

The bedrooms comprise of a double bed. There is AC and a ceiling fan to help you keep the room cool.

Your host is Malisha, He is the owner’s son. He will help you during your stay. They also organise jeep safaris, elephant safaris and day visits to places of interest such as Sigiriya, Dambulla and Polonnaruwa.

When we visited the premises in April 2016 the swimming pool was well under development but not finished.

There are plenty of birds and animals around from hens to budgies in a cage.

Breakfast is not included but can be provided in the restaurant for a small fee.

There is also an Ayurvedic Health Centre next door in Mutu Village with massage beds and a herbal steam room.

Habarana is on the route direct from Trincomalee to Dambulla. The bus stops at the Habarana junction for travellers who want to go to Sigiriya. Whilst going to Sigiriya would involve catching two buses, taking a tuktuk is shorter and quicker as they use back roads not practical for bus transport.

Habarana is 17 kms from Sigiriya, 19 kms from Dambulla, 54 kms to Polonarruwa and 82 kms to Trincomalee. It is a small town of only about 5,000 to 10,000 people. It is used as a base for visiting other places of interest such as Sigiriya Rock and Minneriya National Park. As such there are many hotels and guest houses in the area.

Mutu Village with an Ayurvedic Health Centre, Habarana

Mutu village of Habarana is a resort with accommodation in the main building as well as having luxury accommodation tree house style. The resort is a place to relax and to enjoy the ayurvedic treatments on offer. Carefully controlled by a doctor, the doctor can prescribe a variety of facilities to help with your aches and pains.

The ayurvedic health centre has massage beds and a herbal steam room. There are both a male and female masseur.

The room types include doubles with one double bed, triple bedrooms with a double and a single bed and tree house bedrooms which are triples – one double and one single bed.

There is AC and a ceiling fan to help you keep the room cool, except no ceiling fan in the tree house. There are mosquito nets too to help you protect yourself from annoying insects at night.

The private attached bathroom comes with toilet, douche, wash basin and hot water shower. In addition the tree house has an open roof shower concept.

There is free wifi so you can keep in touch with families and friends.

The resort is set in a jungle area on the back roads of Habarana in an area called Kashyapagama, and has a relaxed feel to it, enabling you to reconnect with nature.

The owner is called Ajith but it is likely that you may be attended by his many helpful staff. In the Ayurvedic centre Deepa and Lalith will assist you.

The room is offered on a bed and breakfast basis. Several restaurants and cafés are located within 15 minutes’ drive. Ajith can provide guests with suggestions and information on nearby eating facilities.

Great Reviews: We stayed in the honeymoon room and it was lovely. woke in the morning to monkeys looking in the window and on the balcony looking for food but not a problem just shoo them away. The honeymoon room was upper level and was all timber like a real tree house The room was 10 out of 10 The owner Adjit was so helpful and his friend Dias could not be faulted.They rang tuk tuk for us to go into town when required. Even when we asked for a nice cold beer to sit on balcony and enjoy a beer as they had no License they organised tuk tuk to pick up 2 large beers and bring to us for very cheap price. Even offered to do our laundry for free.

Premasiri can arrange tours and safari trips for you. Bike hire is available at this hotel and the area is popular for cycling.

Breakfast is not included in the price. The restaurant has a wide selection of meals throughout the day.

The Mihini Restaurant and Hotel of Habarana comprises of 2 double rooms in one bungalow. A double bedroom comprises of one solid double bed, a luggage rack, cable TV, chair, side board and dressing mirror.

The guest house is set in leafy surroundings with many flowers, bushes and trees in the area. It overlooks a large rice field. Ideal for nature lovers.

The owner is called Thissa, but if he is not available then you will be left in the capable hands of Keerti. Keerti will do his best to help you, he is another fine example fo generous Sri Lankan hospitality that you will find throughout the island.
