Ocean Beach Hotel has stunning views of the sea, but it has had its glory days. Now looking a bit battered from wear, it is a hotel that we would recommend to backpackers only. The strongest point in its favour is its proximity to the beach. Simply cross the railway track and the beach is there, approximately 30 metres away.

The Ocean Beach hotel sadly has no internet, thereby making it a little difficult to keep in touch with family and friends.

All rooms have ceiling fans but no air-conditioning. Open your windows though and a lovely sea breeze will come through.

Rooms at the Ocean Beach Hotel all have private attached bathrooms with toilet and shower.

Rooms are sold on a room only basis. Meals, including breakfast, can be purchased from the restaurant area.

The Ocean Beach Hotel is located down one end of a cul-de-sac called Muhandiram Lane in a quiet residential area. The other end joins Galle Road, which is the main coastal road going to uptown Colombo.

To get around, you can take a tuktuk or a bus. The tuktuk is likely to be quicker as the bus tends to stop everywhere en route.
