It is about 800 m to Sigiriya Rock, so its location could not be better. Indeed it was the first guest house to be built in the area and has been in the Lonely Planet since 1982.
Where there is no AC, there is a ceiling fan. All rooms have mosquito nets. Each bedroom has its own private attached bathroom which has a toilet, douche, wash basin and a hot water shower.
There is free wifi so you can keep in touch with families and friends. There is ample parking space, and the guest house can accommodate groups.
Your host is Kaveen, the owner's son. Kaveen and his staff will try to ensure that you have a good time in Sigiriya. They can also organise excursions for you.
Breakfast is included in the price. Other meals can be provided on request.
Sigiriya is in the cultural triangle of Dambulla (19 kms) and Polonnaruwa (54 kms), and as such is an ideal stay over point.
The Sigiriya Rock itself (known literally as Lion's Rock) can be seen on all sides and with its 180 m height, this rock fortress is impressive. It will take you approx. 1 hour to ascend the rock, and 30 minutes to descend the 1,200 steps. The frescoes are world famous, and the intricate palace is a place of wonder. It became a World Heritage site recognised by UNESCO in 1982.
Tourist activities in the area include elephant riding, buffalo cart riding and shopping for artifacts and batiks.
You can also hire a bicycle if you wish. The bicycle rentals are located opposite the guest house.
There is also regular bus service that stops opposite this guest house to Dambulla.
